The aim of the document is to answer the question “What is hypertext” in its own method. Noah Warden first covers how communities offer different answers to the question. These communities are the literary and the computer science community. Noah recognises the effect of a community on their definitions of the word and how each of their biased opinions of the definitions are valid.

To understand what a browser is, I have decided to investigate how a browser works. The browser interacts with 4 different parties: the client, DNS and server The client is the user’s computer. The Server is where the information regarding the website is stored. The Domain Name Server (DNS) routes the client to the correct server based on the domain name entered.

There are three main types of bots to know when reviewing bots. Chatbots, Webcrawlers and Malicious bots. Chatbots are bots with the explicit purpose of interacting with the user. They are used to give quick responses, e.g the weather, welcoming a user to a server or for customer care. Webcrawlers also known as spiders, quickly scan through websites and index them. The search engine then uses this data to display appropriate results to the user. Malicious bots is a broad term that covers any and all bots made with malicious intent; for example: botnets, DDos, clickbots and spam bots.
